CBe-learn and Homeschooling School Council
Representing parents and students from CBe-learn, Homeschooling and Blended Schooling

The CBe-learn and Homeschooling School Council meets once a month from 10:00am - 11:30am at Windsor Park Centre 5504 – 4A St SW.
Parents of any CBe-learn and Homeschooling students are welcome to attend.
The School Council is:
What: The School Council is an interactive body that works with the Administration and Education team on the development and organization of programs, and also brings forward parent and student issues.
From the Legislation:
- Advise the principal and the board respecting any matter relating to the school
- Consult with the principal so that the principal may ensure that students in the programs have the opportunity to meet the standards of education set by the Minister
- Consult with the principal so that the principal may ensure that the fiscal management of the school is in accordance with the requirements of the board and the superintendent
- Provide input for parents in the development of the mission of the school and in the attainment of that mission
- Promote and support educational activities of the school and the school community
- Support the creation of a sense of community and spirit of cooperation among teachers, students, parents and the community at large; serve as a liaison between the parents and the school
- Promote parent understanding of the education system and teaching and learning processes
Who: Parents who have children studying in any of the above programs are members of the School Council. The Council has a five member executive elected during the first meeting of the school year. Besides the parents and the executive, the Council also includes the Principal, a CBe-learn teacher, a Homeschooling Facilitator, and ideally, a student enrolled in the High School program (on-line or homeschooling). It is also recommended to appoint a parent to the role of “Key Communicator” to facilitate information exchange between CBE, the “school” and the parents.
