Professional Learning Opportunities

e-PD connects educators any time, any where and any place to their own professional learning. There are three strategies to choose from:

  1. Distributed Learning Courses
  2. Webinars

E-PD is for:

  • A classroom teacher
  • An online teacher
  • A teacher-librarian
  • A resource room teacher
  • A Learning Leader
  • An Administrator
  • Anyone Involved in a Professional Learning Community
  • An educational assistant

Perhaps you would like to prepare for a new role. Or maybe you are ready to find new ways of integrating technology within your curriculum. It could be that you are looking for different approaches to work more effectively with special needs learners. We have a variety of courses through which you can connect with other professionals in developing skills and strategies to support you in your unique educational practice.

How does it work?

All e-PD courses are offered completely online and are facilitated by experienced, enthusiastic educators. The courses are offered within Desire2Learn, the CBE’s learning management system and through Elluminate, a synchronous course delivery tool that combines text, speech, media and audio. Participants in these professional learning events will access a variety of activities, readings and resources, as well as connect with each other through email, discussions, synchronous and asynchronous communication and shared web spaces.

Who takes these courses?

Educators from across Canada and beyond have enjoyed taking courses together, learning about professional practice in other parts of the world. You might live in Iqaluit, Nunavut or Guadalajara, Mexico! It doesn’t matter where you are, your choice for professional development is through e-Learning.

How do I start?

Simply select the “Register” tab. You will see a list of available courses and upcoming webinars. CBE employees will be asked to provide their email addresses and employee numbers. Non-CBE employees will be required to pay.

Webinar participants will be sent an email with a link and instructions on how to participate.

For e-PD course participants who live in Calgary, Teaching and Learning Online starts with an optional face-to-face orientation session that will introduce participants to goals and expectations. The remainder of the course is completed online within the specified number of weeks.

When you are finished, you will be sent a Certificate of Course Completion. Please check out our range of e-PD courses, as well as our growing collection of resources that may be of value to you. Register early as these professional learning opportunities fill up quickly!
