Understanding the Knowledge and Employability Student
Online, instructor-facilitated, 35 hours over a designated six-week period. Optional 90 minute face to face orientation on first day of class
Course Summary
This course is for teachers or education assistants who wish to work with colleagues to develop understandings, differentiated activities and assessment strategies for the Knowledge and Employability student.
Audience
This course is intended for all educators who:
- Have completed Level I of the Calgary Board of Education’s "Teaching and Learning Online" Certificate program
- Will be teaching Knowledge and Employability students.
Learner Outcomes
- Become an online student for seven weeks in an online course facilitated by one or more instructors
- Work with other educators in examining key issues related Knowledge and Employability students.
- Participate in and develop a variety of exercises connected to Knowledge and Employability students
- Become familiar with the Knowledge and Employability Studio
Requirements
Skills
- General knowledge of Windows, word processing and basic computer operations (e.g. saving files, creating folders etc.)
- Basic Internet navigation

Hardware & Software
- While no special hardware or software is required, you may wish to check the Technical Requirements Document to ensure that you have everything you need.
Time
- Optional 90 minute face to face orientation on first day of class
- Plan on spending 4 to 5 hours per week over the 6-week duration of the course
