Are you interested in learning more about how trauma affects a child? Would you like a better understanding of how trauma affects academic performance? This course will explore the needs and behaviors of a child who has experienced trauma. It will help you to establish a safe classroom environment and effective ways of working with children who have experienced trauma.
Audience
This course is intended for:
- Elementary, junior high and senior high teachers, teacher-assistants, and administrators.
- Educators who wish to use the activities embedded with this e-PD course with their own groups of students.

- an understanding of the importance of a safe classroom environment for students who have experienced trauma

Requirements
Skills
- General knowledge of Windows, word processing and basic computer operations (e.g. saving files, creating folders etc.)
- Basic Internet navigation

- While no special hardware or software is required, you may wish to check the Technical Requirements Document to ensure that you have everything you need.
Time
- Optional 90 minute face to face orientation on first day of class
- Plan on spending 4 to 5 hours per week over the 8-week duration of the course
